The Human Services Center has two stories and an elevator is needed to get clients to the second floor. The 32- year old elevator recently had serious mechanical failures, does not have a battery backup, and can trap people between floors during power outages. Eight of the agencies are on the 2nd floor. During high winds with red flag warnings the power frequently shuts off. A person experiencing life challenges does not need the added trauma of being trapped in an elevator. The elevator is in dire need of an upgrade which costs $150,000!
